The Warrior

At least 6-7 people had recommended me to watch The Warrior, however I procrastinated for more than 4 months. Today finally I got the chance to watch the movie. And yes now I understand why so many people had recommended it.

The Warrior is an awesome movie. It delves on the intricacies of human relationship. Although the context of the movie is "fighting", the real fight is that of human emotions and it embodies the spirit of never say die. Recommend that you watch this movie, if you haven't watched it already.

Thanks to the movie, I came across the "About Today" song performed by The National band. Just love this song, nice and soothing music and good lyrics.

Continuing from my previous post on Anand Ashram, with each passing day the event was coming closer and the excitement meter was soaring. We discussed on the plans on how to go about it, working on the finer details like the events, the prizes, the co-ordination, the gifts and schedule. The Sickle and the Prey..

Finally the 'Prey' is happy and relaxed. The 'Sickle' which had immobilized it all these many years is no more, and the fear of the 'Red' and the 'Monkeys' is finally over. I really wonder what the 'Prey' would have felt all these years, living under the constant threat of its head being chopped-off by the 'Sickle'. To me the arrangement always looked like the 'Butcher' holding his 'Prey' waiting for the right moment to kill. But the helpless prey couldn't even run or complain, as its 'Lady' had sold out to the 'Butcher' and it had to just bear with it, day and night, all these years. However, i think that the 'Prey' had a lucky escape, and the fact that the 'Lady' had finally woken up really inspired the 'Prey' to free itself from the clutches of the dangerous 'Butcher' with a 'Sickle' in one hand and 'Grain' in the other. Is poverty a necessary evil?

I grew up reading, watching and feeling poverty all around. It is not a rarity if you are in a city or town in India. The towns and cities of India are teeming with millions of poor people. Beggars asking for alms, old and helpless begging on the roads all these are a very common sight in any city or town in India. While people in villages might not have to beg but there is a different form of poverty there. Millions in the Indian villages live a life full of hardships, toil, misery and disease. Even my initial years were not very plentiful, though there was enough and my parents ensured that my brother and I had all our basic necessities covered. But I did get a close look at what poverty means and how the poor in this country live while I was growing up in Ranchi . It was a constant reminder for me to take the opportunities that life gave me and be thankful because there are others who did not get as lucky as I got.
