The Sickle and the Prey..

Image
Finally the 'Prey' is happy and relaxed. The 'Sickle' which had immobilized it all these many years is no more, and the fear of the 'Red' and the 'Monkeys' is finally over. I really wonder what the 'Prey' would have felt all these years, living under the constant threat of its head being chopped-off by the 'Sickle'. To me the arrangement always looked like the 'Butcher' holding his 'Prey' waiting for the right moment to kill. But the helpless prey couldn't even run or complain, as its 'Lady' had sold out to the 'Butcher' and it had to just bear with it, day and night, all these years. However, i think that the 'Prey' had a lucky escape, and the fact that the 'Lady' had finally woken up really inspired the 'Prey' to free itself from the clutches of the dangerous 'Butcher' with a 'Sickle' in one hand and 'Grain' in the other. The 'Prey' should now a

Anand Ashram- Joy and Happiness

Image
Continuing from my previous post on Anand Ashram, with each passing day the event was coming closer and the excitement meter was soaring. We discussed on the plans on how to go about it, working on the finer details like the events, the prizes, the co-ordination, the gifts and schedule. Well, it was decided that we would start the event with a prayer song, piano by Subashini, song and dance by our group, followed by talent show by our elders, followed by song and dance performances by the kids from Anand Ashram, and if still time remained by some more things. On Thursday, i and Shyam had tried to sing our songs, but my song didn't turn out very well (i had caught cough and cold). So, i decided to drop my solo performance and go for a group song, we narrowed down on 'Papa kehte hain' from QSQT. Subhashini narrowed down on her songs and practiced it at home. Subashini came up with the idea of two games, Bindi and Pictinary. On Thursday evening i sat with Subashini and finaliz

Still waiting for a reply..

On seeing how the Left was paralyzing India's Nuclear and Energy Future, I decided to write an email to the Leader of Opposition, Advaniji, for safeguarding India's interest and future. I thought that in these dark hours for the country, Advaniji would provide the guiding light to the country. However, its almost three weeks now and i am yet to receive a reply from Advaniji. On the contrary i was highly disappointed to know later that the BJP has taken a negative stance on the Nuclear Deal. I wonder if i will ever see the day in my life when our politicians come out of their narrow mindedness and look at broader issues of National Interest. Below is the mail that i had sent to Advaniji.. "Respected Advani Sir, It is really unfortunate that in a country where a majority of the population lives with less than 6 hours of electricity, where most of the Plan targets on Generation and distribution of electricity have been missed by the government, and most importantly when the g

Anand Ashram

As part of Shyam's Landmark Education's 'Self Expression and Leadership Program' (SELP), i and some of my colleagues and friends, got a wonderful opportunity to contribute to society. Shyam had narrowed down on an 'Old Age' home by the name 'Anand Ashram' on Bannergatta Road very close to IBM's Subramanyam Arcade office. A mail was circulated in IBM's On Demand Community about our intent. We got a good response from there and as a result we now had some company too!! I think all it takes is to take the plunge and start and as you walk the road you always get company. In Hindi, there is as popular saying which says that 'Uoon toh niklay thay hum akele, magar loog mitle gaye aur kaafila banta gaya'. On 25th May we went to Anand Ashram for the first time. To my suprise Anand Ashram was on Bannergatta Main road, just besides the IBM campus, the very same road which i traversed for three months during my training at IBM. And the irony was that

The Sound of Silence

Image
As the clock struck at the midnight hour on Friday,23rd May, history was created as Namma Bengaluru's International Airport finally took wings . It was a dream come true for the Bangaloreans already suffering from ailing infrastructure. While many people were happy about it and celebrated as Bangalore got its on World Class Airport, i had my own reasons to celebrate and mourn. On Saturday, when i got up in the morning the first thing i did was to go to my apartment's rooftop. Standing from there i had bade 'tata' to innumerable flights with their engines making deafening noise, and that Saturday morning the only sound that i could hear was the 'Sound of Silence'.The runway looked like a widow who till yesterday was reining in the admirations for her beauty and today by virtue of fate was mourning the loss and the vacuum created by the sudden loss. I decided to take a ride to the now 'Old Airport'. What i saw at the 'Departures' terminal was sho

Management Lessons from the Indian Premier League

As I write this article the Indian Premier League is mid way, however I could not contain my self to wait till the end of the League to write this article. Cricket in the shorter form has gained immense popularity. The T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007, which was won by India , had set the stage for the new ‘Club’ concept in the game. The IPL conceived on the lines of EPL in football has proved to be the next big thing in the world of cricket. Seven city teams battle in the ‘Karamyudh’. The IPL brought in the new concept of bidding for players which saw the likes of Dhoni, Symonds and Pathan collecting big dollars checks. IPL with its high adrenalin and charged up environment has provided exceptional entertainment to the audience. Be it the mega opening ceremonies, the big sixes, the spectacular fours, the closely fought matches, the ‘City’ fan following, the Bollywood glitter of the Khans and the Zintas, the Cheer Leaders, IPL has really proved to be ‘Manoranjan ka Baap’. How

The City of Malls

As the plane was descending, the aerial view of Delhi as quite impressive. Flyovers and Grand Separators lit by the golden light of the street lights gave an 'International' feel. My Hertz cab driver was right on time and it took less than 20 minutes to come out of the airport (Approx one third of Bangalore airport's exit time during peak hours) !!! The Delhi to Gurgaon road was a magnificent 8 lane highway.Slowly i was coming face to face with the realities of the much hyped 'Infrastructure Boom' of India. The Skyline was dotted with a lot of construction work , then there were the Star Rated Hotels and also the Office complexes. I realized at that moment why DLF was such a prized catch on the Stock Markets during its recent listing on the BSE. Anyway, i reached my Service Apartment in Essel Towers, though it wasn't a five star accommodation but i loved the ambiance and the surrounding of high rise concrete structures. Next morning, i headed for the Training

Life's hectic in Gurgaon

I thought of writing about my last trip to Mysore but I had to travel to Gurgaon this week for an SAP Training on Master Data Management. The two days have been really hectic and am not getting any time to write anything. This trip has been a special one, special because its MDM and secondly because I got the chance to visit the NCR after some 5-6 years, and believe me it has been an eye opener for me!! More about the trip in the coming weeks.

At last i am here..

At last , i am here in the blogging world. I really wonder how many times i would have thought of starting my blog, but didn’t really start one. Should i call it as laziness or was it something else? I think it was both laziness as well as other reasons. The most important one being Orkut. In college when i had time to start my blog, i used to be very busy on Orkut. Such was the addiction to Orkut that sometimes i even asked the time to head for the mess on Orkut!! After college, in spite of my Company giving access to all sites, i could not make a good use of it. I was unlucky to be on bench for only 10 days, which i spent relaxing my mind from all the heavy ABAP stuff i had learned in training. Once i was in put into project,i hardly got any time to write anything. During our initial days at Srinivasa Residency, we didn’t even have an internet connection , so there was no question of writing on weekends. Ceremoniously, i had declared 2007 as ‘The Year’ in January,2007. And ye
