New year and new beginnings!





Another year has gone by, however I must say 2016 was a happening year for me, personally and professionally. It's been more many months since I wrote anything. Let me pen down some of the key highlights of 2016.

2016 was the year of many firsts. Silki got a project in Sydney, her first international assignment. Thus ended our long distance relationship in January. While the first couple of months she was in Melbourne, I got an opportunity to travel and see a bit of Melbourne.

I watched my first tennis game between Tomic & Murray in the third round of Australian Open in the famous Rod Laver Arena. What a wonderful experience it was!

March & April saw a number of road trips in and around Sydney. I loved the scenic beaches of Coffs Harbour and the beautiful drive along the NSW coast.

July and winter gave me an opportunity to discover the Snowy Mountains. Beautiful countryside, scenic lakes and farms dotted the journey.

However, the biggest change of the year was when I left Cognizant  and joined Woolworths Australia. There were a few challenges in the transition but eventually it seems be a good move. At least, this gives me a strong foot hold in ANZ region.

The end of the year saw me taking trips and vacations to Tasmania, Cairns and New Zealand. Each place had its own charm but i think New Zealand surpassed all my expectations.

South Island had majestic views, stunning landscapes, snow capped mountains, crystal clear lakes and valley full of flowers. I am so much in awe that I am sure that I will be go back there again.

2017 has started on a good note. Lots to learn and do this year and it is just the start of the year! Looking forward to another good year.

Continuing from my previous post on Anand Ashram, with each passing day the event was coming closer and the excitement meter was soaring. We discussed on the plans on how to go about it, working on the finer details like the events, the prizes, the co-ordination, the gifts and schedule. Well, it was decided that we would start the event with a prayer song, piano by Subashini, song and dance by our group, followed by talent show by our elders, followed by song and dance performances by the kids from Anand Ashram, and if still time remained by some more things. Should you join IIM Indore?

Well, I will try to cover certain aspects that will throw some light for future applicants. Having spent two years here and more so because I am part of the first graduating batch of size 450, I have developed an understanding of things that work and that do not work at Planet-I. I believe that these views are more pertinent for people with 3 or more than 3 years of work exp but nonetheless these views are universal as well. The Sickle and the Prey..

Finally the 'Prey' is happy and relaxed. The 'Sickle' which had immobilized it all these many years is no more, and the fear of the 'Red' and the 'Monkeys' is finally over. I really wonder what the 'Prey' would have felt all these years, living under the constant threat of its head being chopped-off by the 'Sickle'. To me the arrangement always looked like the 'Butcher' holding his 'Prey' waiting for the right moment to kill. But the helpless prey couldn't even run or complain, as its 'Lady' had sold out to the 'Butcher' and it had to just bear with it, day and night, all these years. However, i think that the 'Prey' had a lucky escape, and the fact that the 'Lady' had finally woken up really inspired the 'Prey' to free itself from the clutches of the dangerous 'Butcher' with a 'Sickle' in one hand and 'Grain' in the other.
